About the Counselor:

Approaching my 23rd year in Education, I am extremely excited and looking forward to this new year. I began my educational endeavors as a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher for Tunica County Schools, before being blessed with the opportunity to become a school counselor here in Desoto County.

Prior to this year, I served in the Lake Cormorant area for 17 years as a Professional School Counselor.

Having earned my Bachelors from Mississippi University for Women, I continued my educational journey by completing my Masters and Specialist Degree in Counselor Education at the University of Mississippi. I am a National Board Certified Counselor and National Board Certified School Counselor, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor and recently received my National Board Certification as a Tele-Mental Health Provider.

It brings me great joy to not only have the opportunity to collaborate with our amazing faculty and staff, but most of all, being able to work with my wonderful students and their families.

We believe ALL students have greatness within them. With the collaborative efforts of the school, home, and community all students will have an opportunity for success throughout their high school years and into adulthood, becoming productive citizens in their respective communities.

Goals

  1. To promote the personal and social development of every student through individual counseling, small group counseling,  and preventive education.
  2. To encourage academic growth and success in students, by offering classroom guidance.
  3. To encourage career readiness, by identifying personal abilities, skills, interests, and motivations.
